Megan's Pregnancy Story
January 06 2012, 0 Comments
In 2005, I became pregnant and lost our first baby around 9.5 weeks. Quite honestly, I was shattered. Throughout my life I had seen almost every woman around me get married and have children - - and, many I babysat for. But, this was my turn, and suddenly I felt like a failure.

World AIDS Day - Getting to Zero
December 01 2011, 0 Comments
According to the March of Dimes, approximately 6,000 women infected with HIV give birth. The virus can be transmitted to the baby during pregnancy, delivery and nursing. AmericanPregnancy.org states that if an untreated woman gives birth to a baby, there is a 25% chance that she will pass it on to her baby. If she gets treatment, that number drops down to 2%. This is why it is so important for women to know their status, especially if she is pregnant.
December 1st is World AIDS Day, Get [...]

Gestational Diabetes During Pregnancy
September 08 2011, 0 Comments
During my 25th week of pregnancy, I took a glucose tolerance test...and failed. I was told to go back to the testing center for a 3 hour test, where you drink a thick, syrupy, sweet, orange drink and the lab tests draws your blood every hour over the course of 3 hours. I failed that test as well. It was then I was told that I had gestational diabetes.
What is Gestational Diabetes?
According to the American Diabetes Association, "pregnant women who have never had diabetes before but who have [...]

We were very fortunate to identify a single donor that was available from the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry and he received a stem cell transplant in June of last year", stated Harris, owner of Tinkles Baby Gifts.
According to the Leukemia and Lymph [...]

August 18 2011, 0 Comments
Yes, you read it correctly, every 9 seconds. This statement impacted me at this specific point in my life because, in less than three weeks, my 5-year old son will commence his twenty-year educational journey by starting Kindergarten. My husband and I have high hopes for both of our boys. We have already started indoctrinating them with lofty goals, all of which exceed post graduate studies. But when I read that statistic, it made me think of my sons' classmates. The ones that may not [...]
